What are Local Involvement Networks?

LINks are a new Government initiative which aims to ensure that more people have a stronger say in how their local health and social care services are planned, commissioned and delivered.

LINks were introduced in the Local Government & Public Involvement in Health Act 2007. The Act gave all Local Authorities with social services responsibilities a duty to contract independent host organisations, initially for three years, to oversee and support the establishment of LINks. They are replacing the Patient & Public Involvement Forums and aim to give local communities more of a say in how the whole health and social care system is designed and works.

The Black & Ethnic Minority Community Care Forum [BEMCCF] is the host organisation for the London Borough of Newham. Like all LINk hosts, it is funded by the Department of Health through the local Council. Read more here
